Alex Eala faces Diane Parry in Ningbo opener

Alexandra “Alex” Eala will open her Ningbo Open campaign today, October 19, against world No. 32 Diane Parry as the Filipina tennis standout seeks to regain momentum on the WTA Tour.
The main draw of the Ningbo Open in China is expected to begin Monday, although Eala’s official match schedule has yet to be announced.
Parry, 24, enters the matchup with one WTA singles title after winning the WTA 500 Monterrey Open in Mexico last August.
The Frenchwoman is coming off consecutive Round of 64 exits at the China Open and Wuhan Open.
Parry has competed in Grand Slam tournaments since 2019 and reached the fourth round of the French Open this year.
She also advanced to the Round of 64 at Wimbledon and the U.S. Open in 2026.
Eala, meanwhile, will look to rebound from her recent tournament results after exiting in the Round of 64 against Shi Han at the Wuhan Open.
The Filipina also suffered a Round of 16 loss to Tatiana Prozorova in Singapore.
The Ningbo matchup presents Eala with another opportunity to test herself against a top-40 opponent as she continues competing against established players on the international circuit.
The winner of the Round of 32 meeting between Eala and Parry will advance to face either Diana Shnaider or a qualifier in the next round.
