Grand Slam champions Carlos Alcaraz and Emma Raducanu will headline the star-studded pairing in the upcoming US Open Grand Slam mixed doubles event set to kick off on August 19, 2025.
The tandem officially announced their entry on June 18, 2025, and quickly became the favorites to raise the golden trophy in the next Grand Slam event of the tennis calendar.
US Open organizers are looking to bring something new to tennis fans, as the mixed doubles will be a standalone event that will only take place for two days.
According to the United States Tennis Association, the special mixed doubles event aims to attract more singles players to have fun before the main draw begins on August 24, 2025.
According to Alcaraz, Raducanu requested more time to consider the pairing, and later on confirmed after several days.
“I’m super excited about it. I think it’s going to be great. It was an amazing idea for the tournament. We will try to win. But obviously it’s going to be really, really fun,” said Alcaraz.
Alcaraz is coming off a spectacular French Open campaign, coming back from a 0-2 deficit to stun Jannik Sinner in the grand finals.
On the other hand, Raducanu is yet to find her footing in the clay court as the former Grand Slam champion got booted out in the second round at the hands of Iga Swiatek.
The tandem will look to defy the odds and take down the other star-studded pairings, but their practice schedule is yet to be announced.
Other doubles entries who confirmed in US Open’s standalone event are Sinner and Emma Navarro, Zheng Qinwen and Jack Draper, Jessica Pegula and Tommy Paul, Jasmine Paolini and Lorenzo Musetti.
According to the organizers, Novak Djokovic will be pairing with Olga Danilovic, and Nick Kyrgios will be teaming up with Naomi Osaka.
“Seeing the teams that have already put their names on the entry list makes us all incredibly excited. It shows that the players are behind what we are trying to do, and we know that the fans will love it,” said USTA’s chief executive Lew Sherr.
