One of the most wanted persons in Aklan province was arrested more than eight years after fleeing from the law.
Resurrecion Sonio, 52, a resident of Barangay Guanco, Balete town, was nabbed June 3, 2022 at Sitio Makawili, Barangay Cabugao, Altavas, Aklan.
Joint elements of Altavas Municipal Police Station, Regional Intelligence Division 6, Aklan Police Provincial Office, Special Action Force and 1st Aklan Provincial Mobile Force Company collared the suspect by virtue of an arrest warrant for murder docketed as Criminal Case Number 8758.
Judge Marrietta Jomena of the Regional Trial Court in Kalibo, Aklan issued the arrest warrant on Feb. 27, 2014.
No bail was recommended for his temporary liberty.
Ranked as the province’s second most wanted person, Sonio was accused of killing a relative in 2007 in Balete, Aklan.
He then went into hiding until his arrest recently.
Sonio is now at the custody of PNP and will be presented to the concerned court.
