Aklan worker drowns off Roxas City beach

ROXAS CITY, Capiz — A 38-year-old construction worker from Barangay Tigayon in Kalibo, Aklan, drowned while swimming Sunday afternoon, Feb. 22, 2026, at a beach in Barangay Culasi in Roxas City, police said.
Police identified the victim as alias “Vel,” who was temporarily staying at RV Builders in Barangay Lawaan in Roxas City.
A concerned citizen informed the Roxas City police about the incident, and responding officers went to the scene, police said.
Police said the victim was allegedly under the influence of alcohol when he went swimming.
The Roxas City Emergency Response Team brought the victim to Roxas Memorial Provincial Hospital, where he was declared dead on arrival by the attending doctor, police said.
Police said they are investigating the incident.
