A 40-year-old man from Altavas, Aklan cut seven of his fingers and his genitals.
A barangay official reported the incident to the police around 10 a.m. on June 28.
Members of the Altavas Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO) took the victim to the hospital.
Lieutenant Ryan Batadlan, Altavas police chief, said the man chopped all five fingers in his left hand and his right hand’s index and middle fingers. He also severed his own penis.
His family told the police that the victim has been drinking liquor for two days before the incident.
Batadlan said the man was also treated for an undisclosed mental health problem.
His family had refused to record the incident in the police blotter.
The victim is still undergoing treatment at the hospital.
