BACOLOD CITY — A 19-year-old aeronautics student from Barangay Alangilan was found dead Sunday morning near a sugarcane field in Barangay Salvacion, Murcia, Negros Occidental, following a suspected motorcycle accident.
Police Capt. Honey Labaro, chief of the Murcia Municipal Police Station, said initial investigation indicated the student died from injuries sustained in the crash.
A passerby discovered the victim with head and leg injuries around 5:30 a.m., and authorities later found the motorcycle inside the sugarcane field.
The victim was last seen at a restobar in Murcia with his cousin and a friend.
Police have not confirmed whether he was intoxicated when he left the establishment to reportedly fetch someone using his cousin’s motorcycle.
According to the victim’s cousin, he often drove at high speeds, Labaro said.
The victim’s identity was later confirmed by his uncle.
