BACOLOD City – Police are looking into grudges as possible motive behind the killing of a member of the Anti-Crime and Terrorism Community Involvement and Support (ACT-CIS) at Sitio Langoni, Purok 10, Barangay Inayauan, Cauayan, Negros Occidental last Friday.
Police Major Anthony Grande, town police chief, identified the victim as Panpelo Maban, 61, of the said village.
Grande said Maban and his wife went to their nipa hut to eat breakfast after plowing his farm when four unidentified armed men arrived and talked to him.
Gunshots were later heard just as the victim’s wife left the hut. The wife later saw her husband on the ground with gunshot wounds in the body.
Grande said the victim’s wife failed to hear the conversation of her husband and the suspects prior to the incident.
“Possible na monitor naman sang suspects ang routine sang victim magtapos siya arado kay gulpi lang sila nagtuhaw,” Grande said.
Police recovered from the scene four casings of M16 rifle ammunition.
Grande said they could not also tell yet if the incident could be considered as insurgency related.
