ACCIONA Energía has secured a 20-year power supply contract to deliver the full output of two renewable energy projects totaling 281 megawatts (MW) in the Philippines, the company announced Tuesday.
The award, granted through Round 4 of the Philippine Department of Energy’s Green Energy Auction Program (GEAP), includes the Kalayaan 2 wind farm (101MW) in Laguna – currently under construction – and the Daanbantayan solar plant (180MWp) in Cebu, which is expected to break ground before the end of 2025.
The long-term contract provides energy offtake certainty for both projects, advancing the Philippines’ transition to clean energy.
“The award gives long-term certainty for the energy these projects will produce, supporting the Philippines in reaching its renewable energy targets while delivering clean, reliable power to consumers,” the company stated.
Beyond the awarded projects, ACCIONA Energía has more than 2 gigawatts (GW) of additional renewable energy capacity under development in the Philippines.
The company recently reorganized its regional partnerships to solidify its footprint across Southeast Asia, especially in the Philippines and Thailand—both key growth markets for the Spanish energy firm.
ACCIONA has operated in the Philippines since 2016, primarily through its water and infrastructure divisions.
Notable infrastructure contributions include the Cebu–Cordova Link Expressway (CCLEX), as well as the Putatan II and Laguna Lake water treatment plants.
In addition, the company’s social impact arm, acciona.org, has helped bring electricity services to rural and underserved communities in the Philippines since 2021.
Working in collaboration with the Ayala Foundation and the Spanish Agency for International Cooperation and Development, acciona.org has provided energy access to approximately 3,500 households, small businesses, and community centers that previously lacked grid connectivity.
Globally, ACCIONA Energía is the largest 100 percent renewable energy company with no fossil fuel legacy.
The company operates 15.1GW of renewable energy capacity across 24 countries and offers customized energy solutions to support corporate and institutional decarbonization goals.
ACCIONA S.A., a global leader in regenerative solutions, holds the majority stake in ACCIONA Energía.
