With pending contracts to different sports organizations, media giant ABS-CBN has focused their attention to online broadcast in order to fulfill those commitments.
After not getting their franchise renewal, ABS-CBN is now exploring the possible platforms where they can present their sports, news, and lifestyle channels.
Currently, their Sports + Action (S+A) channel is planning to broadcast all events on their online platform.
“This the first time we’re broadcasting something online with this magnitude because we’re awarding a lot of people,” said head of ABS-CBN Integrated Sports Dino Laurena.
With ongoing contracts with the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) and the Premier Volleyball League (PVL), both big sports organizations plan to keep their commitment with ABS-CBN as long as their games will be aired, regardless of the format.
However, Laurena said that the transition will not be an easy task because online broadcast requires a lot of manpower.
“From a show standpoint, you care for how people experience the show. A live show is a very hard thing to do. Continuity is very important,” added Laurena.
First to be aired in their online broadcast platform will be the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP) Season 82 closing ceremonies.
