ABAP sets new guidelines for PH boxing under each quarantine level

The Association of Boxing Alliances of the Philippines (ABAP) has created new guidelines for boxers according to their area and quarantine level.

With boxing in other countries already given the green light to resume operations behind closed doors, the Philippines is trying to reach out to the IATF for their resumption as well.

For ABAP, creating a new set of guidelines would be the first step to their return after a four-month hiatus.

Under the Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ) and the Modified Enhanced Community Quarantine (MECQ), individual indoor training is allowed.

Small group trainings with a maximum of five athletes are also allowed, but only if those boxers are already living under the same roof. The boxers are also required to observe physical distancing of at least 6 feet.

For areas under General Community Quarantine (GCQ) and the Modified General Community Quarantine (MGCQ), outdoor training will be allowed and can be done in parks or other public spaces.

However, boxers might not get to see any ring action even after quarantine levels are lifted as additional guidelines may be required before full-contact is allowed.

For all quarantine levels, ABAP has strongly recommended that all boxers wear face masks at all times.
