BACOLOD CITY – A newborn baby boy found abandoned beside a river in Barangay Tabunan, Bago City, Negros Occidental, on Monday is now under the care of the City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO) Crisis Center.
Mayor Marina “Mayette” Javellana-Yao assured the public that the baby—fondly called “Moises” by center personnel—will receive complete medical consultations and immunizations at the City Health Office.
“I am really praying that this baby will have a bright future someday,” the mayor said while cradling the child in her arms.
The baby, who was naked and covered in ant bites, was discovered by a farmer walking his carabao through the fields early Monday morning.
He immediately brought the infant to barangay officials, who turned him over to the Crisis Center.
Yao said she plans to meet with the CSWDO to discuss next steps for the child’s care and future.
“Hopefully, God willing, we can bring him where he truly belongs,” she added.
