The greening project, encompassing a 19-kilometer stretch from the airport to Iloilo City, traverses the towns of Cabatuan, Santa Barbara, and Pavia, promoting ecological conservation and beautification along the national highway.
The event marked a significant milestone for the Iloilo International Airport Gateway greening project, a joint initiative of the Tanum Iloilo program and the Urban Gardening Movement of Iloilo City.
In an address underscoring the collective significance of the event, RD Oropel said, “This greening project stands as a testament to the formidable partnership between DPWH, the provincial government of Iloilo, and the city government of Iloilo. Led by Iloilo Provincial Governor Arthur Defensor Jr., the event showcased a convergence of local chief executives and representatives from the Department of Environment and Natural Resources, Mines and Geosciences Bureau, Bureau of Fire Protection, as well as organizations, underscoring the deeply collaborative essence driving this remarkable initiative.
