BACOLOD CITY – Authorities arrested a 29-year-old construction worker wanted for carnapping at his workplace in Barangay Paniabonan, Mabinay, Negros Oriental, on Saturday.
Police Major Sherwin Fernandez, head of the Murcia Police, said the arrest warrant was issued against “Alexander,” a resident of Barangay Blumentritt, Murcia, Negros Occidental, after weeks of monitoring.
Fernandez said the suspect was tagged as the ninth most wanted person (MWP) in Western Visayas. He was also classified as the sixth MWP at the Negros Occidental level and fifth at the municipal level.
The suspect is accused of violating Section 3 of Republic Act 10883, also known as the New Anti-Carnapping Law.
The arrest warrant was issued by the Regional Trial Court (RTC) Branch 254 in Las Piñas City on February 12, 2025. The court recommended bail of PHP 300,000 for his provisional liberty.
