BACOLOD City – Less than 1,000 personnel of the Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office (Nocppo) here have yet to be vaccinated against the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).
Police Lieutenant Abegael Donasco, Nocppo’s information officer, said 929 cops are still unvaccinated out of the 2,225 Nocppo personnel as of August 12.
Donasco said a ceremonial vaccination was held at the Nocppo headquarters in Barangay Estefania last Monday in coordination with the Provincial Health Office to kick off the vaccination roll out among the Negrense policemen.
However, she said that some lactating mothers refused to be inoculated due to complications, while other cops have comorbidities.
Despite this, Donasco said most of the provincial police force was already vaccinated through the help of the local government units and the provincial government.
In fact, Donasco said that 1,296 personnel were already inoculated. Of this figure, 988 were fully vaccinated, while 308 have received their first doses.
Meanwhile, Nocppo has recorded only four COVID-19 active cases among its personnel as of this writing.
