Eighty-eight wanted persons were arrested in a series of police manhunt operations conducted by the Police Regional Office (PRO) 6 in Western Visayas.
From Dec. 1–15, PRO-6 carried out 58 operations targeting fugitives across the region as part of its intensified anti-criminality campaign.
In a statement, PRO-6 said the arrests marked a significant accomplishment in its continuing efforts to strengthen public safety and enforce the rule of law.
Law enforcement units from various provincial and city police offices throughout Western Visayas were mobilized to track down and apprehend fugitives, underscoring PRO-6’s firm resolve to curb criminal activity.
The Iloilo Police Provincial Office topped the list with 30 arrests, four of whom were classified as regional-level fugitives.
The Capiz Police Provincial Office ranked second with 16 arrests, followed by the Aklan Police Provincial Office with 14 arrests.
Other provincial police units also played key roles in the successful conduct of the operations, contributing to the overall outcome of the campaign.
Brig. Gen. Josefino Ligan, Western Visayas police director, cited the tracker teams for the dedication and professionalism of the operating units, emphasizing the importance of strong community partnerships in achieving operational success.
“This achievement is a testament to the commitment and discipline of our personnel in ensuring that fugitives are held accountable under the law,” Ligan said.
He also recognized the crucial support of the public, noting that timely information and cooperation significantly contributed to the campaign’s success.
Ligan encouraged communities to remain vigilant and continue working closely with the police to sustain peace and security across Western Visayas.
