7 nabbed for illegal fishing in Panay

ROXAS CITY, Capiz – Seven persons were arrested Thursday in Panay, Capiz for illegal fishing.

Bantay Dagat members from Panay town collared Donato Sabando, 47, boat captain of MB Princess Fiona, and crew members Bernabe Marcelo, 24; Enrico Bernal, 27; Ricky Bernal, 21; Antonio Marcelo, 21; Vicente Marcelo, 35; Eddie Artocilla, 40; and Bernard Marcelo, all of Punta Carles, Carles, lloilo.

Recovered from the suspects are the fishing boat, fine mesh nets, and 30 kilos of assorted fish worth P3,500.

The suspects are in the custody of Bantay Dagat of Panay while charges are being prepared against them for violating the municipal fishing ordinance.
