The number one most wanted person of Zarraga, Iloilo, was arrested evening of Oct 27, 2020.
Police collared 69-year-old Apolonio Legori at his place in Poblacion Ilaud in Zarraga.
Lieutenant Johnny Arnad, Zarraga police chief, said Legori is the subject of an arrest warrant for the crime of statutory rape (under Article 226-A of the RPC) as amended by Republic Act 8353 or The Anti-Rape Law of 1997.
Judge Regina Galang-Guarin of the Regional Trial Court, Branch 30, Iloilo City, issued the warrant in relation to Criminal Case No. 20-85614 with no bail recommended.
Arnad said the incident happened sometime in 2014 when the victim was just 12 years old.
The complainant is now married, he added.
Legori is now detained for proper disposition of his case.
Relatedly, another man who was accused of rape was arrested 3 pm on Oct 28 in Leganes town.
Members of Leganes Police Station nabbed Raymund Guangco, 35, of Barangay Guihaman, Leganes, for the case of rape by sexual assault under Art 266-A par 2 of RPC as amended by R.A. 8353 in relation to R.A. 7610 (Special Protection of Children Against Abuse, Exploitation and Discrimination Act).
Judge Gumarin also issued the arrest warrant on September 14, 2020.
A P180,000 bail was set for Guangco’s temporary liberty.
Guangco is now detained at Leganes Police Station for proper disposition of his case.
