Sixty-three wanted persons were arrested and 70 loose firearms were confiscated, as the Iloilo Police Provincial Office (IPPO) went on an intensified anti-criminality campaign.
The IPPO said the accomplishment is part of their weeklong intensified law enforcement operations dubbed as Birada Semana.
Under the Birada Semana, all IPPO units stepped up their campaign against wanted persons, illegal drugs, illegal gambling, loose firearms, and illegal fishing.
The campaign, which started Sept 1 to 7, saw Oton Municipal Police Station arresting the most number of wanted persons.
Barotac Viejo MPS led in the campaign against illegal drugs while Sara MPS had the most number of arrests on loose firearms.
Colonel Paul Kenneth Lucas, Iloilo police chief, lauded his personnel for responding to the challenge of Birada Semana.
“The result is overwhelming, but I know we can do better next time,” he said.
In an online conference on Tuesday, Lucas congratulated the station chiefs who made significant contributions in the weeklong police operations.
In the same manner, he warned low performing police stations to double their efforts for next month’s Birada Semana.
He also recognized the various stakeholders for supporting the police units in the various law enforcement operations.
“Malaki ang naiambag ng ating mga BIN (Barangay Intelligence Network) agents, local officials, and even of ordinary citizens na nabibigay ng impormasyon upang maging posible ang ganitong accomplishments,” Lucas said.
