BACOLOD City – Six members of the Army’s 79th Infantry Battalion (IB) based in Sagay City, Negros Occidental are being investigated for alleged alarm and scandal in a restobar at Barangay Zone 1, Cadiz City on Thursday.
Police refused to name the soldiers.
Captain Rowell Dairocas, civil military operations officer of the 79th IB, said police responded to a call for assistance, after these soldiers were reportedly creating noise while they were having a drinking session around 12:10 a.m.
They were allegedly laughing so hard that it already disturbed other people at the restobar, Dairocas said.
Responding police officers later seized their four service pistols.
Dairocas also denied reports that the soldiers threatened or even choked a person at the said establishment.
With the said incident, the soldiers were disarmed and restricted to leave the camp while they are being investigated.
He said they violated the existing order which prohibits all men in uniform to drink in public places.
He said these soldiers were released from police custody after the complainant refused to press criminal charges against them.
But, Dairocas said that they will still be administratively sanctioned.
