ROXAS CITY, CAPIZ – A non-government organization donated six rescue boats to the Local Government Unit (LGU) of Panitan town.
According to Panitan Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO) head Mark Jay Dumol, the rescue boats will be distributed to barangays Balatucan, Agkilo, Quios, Salocon, Intampilan and Cabugao which are usually flooded during heavy rains.
The MDRRMO will retain one boat.
The rescue boats are made of fiberglass and each is 12 meters long and can carry 10 to 15 persons. Each boat is worth P175,000.
Dumol said the boats will be used in rescue operations and distribution of relief goods in case of calamity and emergency.
