Six government agencies in Guimaras joined forces in planting 300 fruit seedlings in the farm and garden lots of Indigenous Peoples (IPs) Community in Sitio Kati-Kati, San Miguel, Jordan on Oct 30, 2020.
Provincial Statistics Committee (PSC)-Guimaras member agencies namely the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA)-Guimaras Provincial Statistical Office, Guimaras Police Provincial Office (GPPO), Provincial Tourism Office (PTO), Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR), and the Provincial Planning and Development Office (PPDO) conducted the tree planting activity in Sitio Kati-Kati and encouraged the IP residents in the area to support and adopt the trees until it will full-grown and bear fruits.

“Kami bahala mag atipan sining mga bag ong tanum nga mga seedlings and mag butang sang mga tree guards ky para man ini sa amon kaayuhan and kami man sini ang maka benipisyo. We will take care of these planted fruit seedlings, we will put tree guards, after all we could benefit from all of these,” according to Crispin Valencia, chieftain of Sitio Kati- Kati IP Group said
The tree planting activity aimed to raise awareness in the society about the importance of planting and saving trees, express concern to the environment, and to help build a strong relationship and camaraderie by helping hand-in-hand in preserving the ecology.
It inspired the DENR to support the event by providing 300 fruit seedlings of cashew, marang, santol, and jackfruits.

“The tree planting was done as part of the month-long celebration of the 31st National Statistics Month (NSM) in the Province of Guimaras, and we are glad for the strong support of the PSC member agencies by sending their representatives, rain or shine, that contributed to the success of the activity,” PSA- Guimaras Provincial Statistics Officer Nelida B. Losare said.
