5,407 W. Visayas cops up for Yuletide deployment

Close to half of the police force in Western Visayas will be on the streets and other convergence areas in the region as it braces for the Holiday season.
The Police Regional Office 6 (PRO-6) said it would be deploying 5,407 uniformed personnel to provide maximum security during the Yuletide.
Brigadier General Rolando Miranda, Western Visayas police chief, said the security coverage started Dec 16 and will run until Jan. 3, 2021.
These personnel will secure churches, transport terminals, seaports, malls, and other places of convergence from threat of terrorism, criminal groups and other individuals who may take advantage of the situation.
“At the same time, they will strictly impose maximum health protocols to contain the spread of COVID-19,” Miranda said.
He added that the PRO-6 has deployed enough number of PNP personnel to strengthen police visibility especially in highly-urbanized areas in the region.
Aside from PNP personnel, 12,651 force multipliers that will serve as augmentation to help the uniformed personnel in securing their respective area of responsibility.
Miranda has assured the public on the readiness of the police to protect the people during the holiday season.
“I am sure that they will certainly be celebrating Christmas and New Year, so we have to make sure that the people and their properties are safe and secured,” he said.
