BACOLOD CITY — More than 5,000 public school teachers, police officers, and fire personnel in Bacolod will start receiving their economic allowances totaling PHP27,196,500 beginning Friday, July 25.
This follows the signing of the disbursement order by Mayor Greg Gasataya on Thursday, recognizing the critical roles these sectors play in education, public safety, and emergency response.
Secretary to the Mayor Marty Go said teachers will now receive PHP2,200 in monthly ECOLA, up from PHP2,000 last year, with the PHP200 increase implemented starting 2025.
A total of PHP25,476,000 has been allocated for 3,860 teachers, covering the months of April to June.
Meanwhile, PHP1,500 in monthly ECOLA was allotted for 1,023 police personnel and 124 Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) members, covering June and amounting to PHP1,720,500.
The financial assistance seeks to ease the burden on essential workers and reinforce their morale and capacity to serve the community.
“These everyday heroes risk their lives, care for our safety, and shape young minds — often with limited resources,” Gasataya said.
“Recognizing their vital roles is a simple but meaningful way to show respect for their hard work and sacrifices,” he added.
Gasataya thanked them for their continued service and dedication to the people of Bacolod.
