The suspects were identified as Ma. Fe Merla, 48, and Josefina Villodres, 44, both residents of Barangay Mapatag, Hamtic.
Their companion, Romeo Regoita, 70, also of the said place, escaped.
Police Major Adolfo Pagharion, Hamtic police chief, disappointingly noted that Merla is a beneficiary of the government’s Special Amelioration Program (SAP) while Villodres is a member of the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps).
SAP is the government assistance to families affected by the coronavirus disease crisis while 4Ps is the conditional cash program for the poorest of the poor.
The three were caught playing the card game tong-its at a house in Mapatag village. Police recovered a set of playing cards, a small plastic box, and P360 bet money.
The suspects will be charged for violation of Presidential Decree 1602 (Anti-Gambling Law).
