Almost half of Police Regional Office (PRO) 6’s total force has undergone mandatory drug testing in the first two months of this year.
Based on PRO-6 records, 4,574 of the region’s 9,643 personnel were tested.
None was found positive for drug use, said PRO-6 spokesperson Maj. Lailyn Sencil.
A total of 1,113 personnel from the Iloilo Police Provincial Office were tested, followed by the Aklan Police Provincial Office with 745, the Capiz Police Provincial Office with 711, the Antique Police Provincial Office with 553, PRO-6 headquarters with 496, Regional Mobile Force Battalion 6 with 469, the Iloilo City Police Office with 271 and the Guimaras Police Provincial Office with 216.
Sencil clarified that even non-uniformed personnel have to undergo the drug test.
She added that the mandatory drug test is conducted every semester.
The testing forms part of the Integrity Monitoring Program under Philippine National Police chief Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr.’s Focus Agenda.
Sencil said the mandatory drug test is not a mere procedural requirement but a vital measure to ensure that the PNP maintains the highest standards of discipline, professionalism and public trust.
Even last year, no PRO-6 personnel was found positive for drug use, Sencil said.
