45 ex-drug users finish rehab program

BACOLOD City – Forty-five former drug users graduated from the Community Based Rehabilitation Program (CBRP) in two separate moving up ceremonies in the cities of San Carlos  and Bago in Negros Occidental on February 28 and March 4, respectively.

27 graduates were from Barangays Codcod and Quezon in San Carlos City, while 18 were from various villages in Bago City, a press release from the Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office (Nocppo) said.

Those in San Carlos finished the 2-month program while those in Bago City completed the one month program.

Police Colonel Romeo Baleros, Nocppo director, said this program is a concerted effort and product of the collaboration between the local government units (LGUs), City Health Offices, City Social Welfare Development Office, and the local Philippine National Police units.

Baleros said it serves as one of the demand reduction drives against illegal drugs, a press release said.

He thanked the full support of partner agencies in the success of the program.

“While we run after the pushers and drug syndicates, we are also helping the users eliminate drugs in their lives,” he added.
