BACOLOD CITY — An additional 409 police personnel were deployed to Bacolod City on Wednesday to reinforce security operations for the 47th MassKara Festival, which runs from Oct. 1 to 18.
The augmentation includes 200 personnel from Police Regional Office 6 (PRO-6), 73 from the Revitalized Pulis sa Barangay (RPSB) and 136 from the Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office.
The additional personnel were strategically assigned to different operational units to maximize security coverage across the city.
Their assignments include inner border control, public order, anti-criminality operations, community relations, billet security, the Bacolod City Government Center, the public plaza and the Red Team.
The units will work in close coordination with the Site Sub-Task Group Security.
The deployment reinforced the 3,258 personnel initially mobilized last week as part of the first security deployment for this year’s MassKara Festival.
Police personnel are tasked with maintaining peace and order, preventing and responding to criminal activities, managing traffic and crowds, and providing visible police presence throughout the festivities.
Brig. Gen. Randulf Tuaño, PRO-6 director, reminded personnel that their deployment carries both responsibility and an opportunity to demonstrate professional, disciplined and service-oriented policing.
“Be visible. Be approachable. Stay alert. Follow your instructions and observe proper police procedures,” Tuaño said.
He stressed that personnel should help maintain order while showing professionalism, restraint and respect for the rights of the people they serve.
Tuaño also reminded commanders to ensure that personnel are properly briefed and deployed, maintain open communication and strengthen coordination throughout the security operations.
“We may be coming from different units and different areas, but once we are deployed, we work as one police force with one purpose—to help ensure a safe, peaceful, and orderly MassKara Festival,” Tuaño said.
Meanwhile, Brig. Gen. Rudecindo Reales, PRO-NIR director, thanked PRO-6 for its continued support and cooperation, particularly in providing additional personnel for the festival’s security and public safety operations.
Reales assured the augmented personnel that PRO-NIR would provide the necessary support, guidance and coordination throughout their 12-day deployment.
