ROXAS CITY, Capiz – Four members of a family that was reported missing onboard a motor banca that traveled from Sapatos Gamay to Bangkal, Carles in Iloilo were rescued.
The Philippines Coast Guard (PCG) rescued Romeo Bataican, Rhoda Moncillo, and Romelyn Bataican at Panguirangan Balud, Masbate. They are confined to a hospital in Masbate.
RB Bataican, 5, was declared dead on arrival at the hospital.
Based on the Facebook post of a certain Ernesto Refill, fishermen also rescued a person in the shores of Brgy. Calumpang, Milagros, Masbate.
The person was lately identified as Roldan Bataican and presently under the care of the barangay officials of said village.
At present, three persons remain missing:
-Marlon Pablo,6;
-Rico Pablo, 9;
-Romeo Bataican Jr., 10.
Eight members of the family were evacuated from Sapatos Gamay due to typhoon Jolina. But their boat capsized while sailing.
Two other motor bancas with evacuees safely arrived in Bangkal, Carles.
