ROXAS CITY, Capiz — Four people have died as COVID-19 cases in the province of Capiz surged to 63.
According to the Provincial Weekly Notifiable Disease Case Bulletin released recently by the Provincial Health Office (PHO), from January to July 27, 2024, COVID-19 cases are down 78.79% compared to the same period last year, which saw 297 cases.
Health officials believe that new variants of COVID-19 might be the reason for the continued presence of the deadly disease.
Meanwhile, the PHO confirmed that the province of Capiz had 933 cases of dengue from January 1 to July 27, 2024.
According to the Provincial Dengue Case Bulletin, dengue cases have increased by 127%, with 411 more cases compared to the same period last year.
The PHO has placed 35 barangays under clustering to monitor dengue cases in their areas.
Health officials have urged the public to clean their surroundings, particularly mosquito breeding areas.
