Thirty-two newly promoted police lieutenants boosted the current strength of the Iloilo Police Provincial Office (IPPO).
Most of them were already assigned to municipal police stations where they would act as deputy police chiefs, IPPO director Colonel Paul Kenneth Lucas said.
But only 26 have reported for duty, as the two others were on quarantine after they tested positive for COVID-19.
Lucas said the two police officers – a 40-year old male and a 35-year old female – would immediately be deployed once they recover.
On the other hand, four have been assigned at the IPPO headquarters in Camp Sumagaysay in Sta. Barbara town.
With the new addition of police commissioned officers, Lucas said they could now fill positions that require a police officer rank.
Prior to this, there are several police stations that only have non-commissioned officers as their deputy police chief.
“Since they just finished their schooling, fresh pa sa memory nila ang mga natutunan nila. We hope they could apply that to guide their subordinates,” he said.
It was gathered that other provinces and cities in Western Visayas have also been assigned with newly promoted officers.
