Bacolod City – Brig. Gen. Ignacio Madriaga, commander of the Army’s 302nd Infantry Brigade, said on June 14, 2019, that their headquarters has returned to Tanjay, Negros Oriental from Bohol after almost four years.
Madriaga said equipment and troops started arriving in Dumaguete Friday morning.
The relocation is in compliance with Executive Order 70 of President Rodrigo Duterte mandating troop build-up in Negros Oriental.
Madriaga said while the New People’s Army “is not really that strong” in Negros Oriental, “there is some degree of affectation, especially in Guihulngan City.”
“During the time na ginawa ang EO, medyo active ang NPA sa Guihulngan kaya specified ang Negros Oriental for troop build-up,” he added.
Earlier, the 11th Infantry Battalion under the 302nd Brigade was redeployed in Negros Oriental.
Madriaga said there are now two Army battalions in Negros Oriental.
