The Iloilo City Government will temporarily provide 300 kaings or bamboo baskets as trash bins around downtown area during the Dinagyang 2020 highlights this weekend.
City Hall has also contracted additional 50 portalets to augment 12 city-owned portalets for sanitation purposes.
Mayor Jerry P. Treñas said he hopes the baskets will solve indiscriminate throwing of garbage during the festivities.
But he clarified that culprits will be issued citation tickets when caught littering.
Maintaining the cleanliness of streets and public places will pose a challenge as huge crowds are expected to converge in celebration of the city’s premier cultural, religious and tourism festival which climaxes on the last weekend of January. (PIO)
