BACOLOD City – Sixteen persons, including three minors, were arrested for alleged illegal gambling amid the community quarantine in two municipalities in Negros Occidental last Monday.
In Pulupandan town, 10 persons, including three teenagers aged 15 and 17 were apprehended after they were allegedly caught playing “pusoy” and tong-its” at Barangay Crossing Pulupandan.
Police recovered from them four sets of playing cards, two towels, a manila paper, and P900 cash.
The three minors were turned over to the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) while the other arrested individuals were placed under police custody.
In Hinoba-an town, three persons were also arrested at Barangay Alim for reportedly playing “tong-its.”
Confiscated from them during the anti-illegal gambling operation of the police were a set of playing cards and P418 cash.
All suspects violated the Presidential Decree No. 1602 which is prescribing stiffer penalties on illegal gambling.
