BACOLOD City – Three motorcycle riders were killed after ramming into a six-wheeler truck parked on the roadside of Purok Bomba, Barangay Salvacion, Murcia, Negros Occidental Wednesday night.
Killed were Melvin Kim Aringa, 27, Mark Christopher Gozon, 22, both residents of Barangay Zone 4, and Tommy Dumdumaya, 25, of Barangay Salvacion.
Police Major Robert Dejucos, town police chief, said the victims were on their way home from a birthday party in a resort at Barangay Minoyan when they crashed into the truck driven by Jay Mark Cunanan, 21, of Barangay 10, Victorias City.
Dejucos said the motorcycle was allegedly speeding and the passengers were reportedly drunk during the crash.
The three victims were rushed to Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital here. They were later declared dead.
Dejucos said Cunanan parked the truck due to an engine trouble but he did not place an early warning device.
Cunanan was released from detention on Thursday after the expiration of the 18-hour reglementary detention period.
