ROXAS CITY, Capiz – Three Capiceño seafarers who slipped past the Philippines Coast Guard (PCG) in Bacolod City on Wednesday are now under quarantine for the coronavirus disease (COVID-19).
According to the wife of one of the seafarers, her husband has no signs and symptoms associated with the disease, so far.
She said she got mad after her husband was likened to a fugitive after he and two other fellow seafarers were able to travel from Cebu, Bacolod and later in Dumangas port in Iloilo despite the travel restrictions.
The wife, who asked not to be named, said her husband was supposed to go home from Egypt last month together with his two colleagues from Capiz.
The two other seafarers are also free of symptoms or ailments.
She said that barangay officials in their village went to their house to check her husband.
The three traveled from Egypt and boarded another plane in Dubai.
From Dubai, they flew to Cebu where they boarded a Tri Star roll-on roll-off vessel that passed by Bacolod City.
Provincial Health Officer I Dr. Leah Del Rosario has coordinated with officials in the respective home towns of the three seafarers.
Del Rosario recommended the three to undergo home quarantine as they are considered persons under monitoring (PUM).
