3 arrested for illegal fishing in Panay

ROXAS CITY, Capiz – Three individuals were apprehended early Sunday morning, June 9, for illegal fishing in the waters of Panay, Capiz.
Elements of the Panay Municipal Police Station and Bantay Dagat caught boat captain Robert Ruado, 46, and crew members Rodolfo Aseolo, 38, and Roger Borbon, 34, all residents of Barangay Casanayan, Pilar, Capiz, in the act of illegal fishing using a trawl.
Recovered from the suspects were:
– One unit pump boat worth P100,000
– Two diesel engines (18 HP) worth P30,000
– Fishing net with complete accessories worth P250,000
– 12 kilos of assorted fish worth P3,000
The suspects failed to present proper documentation when asked by the apprehending authorities.
The suspects are under the custody of the Panay Municipal Environment and Natural Resources Office for proper disposition.
