225 newbie cops take oath in W. Visayas

A total of 225 new police officers officially joined the Police Regional Office (PRO) 6 ranks after taking their oath of office on Nov. 15 at the PRO-6 headquarters at Camp Martin Delgado, Iloilo City.
Brigadier General Sidney Villaflor, Western Visayas police chief, administered their oath of office.
Thirty-five of the new recruits are females.
For this year’s selection process, Villaflor said they have only chosen “the best of the best applicants.”
The PNP leadership lauds the recruitment of 300 new officers for PRO-6 as part of the attrition quota.
The new recruits will replace personnel who retired or separated from service due to retirement from service, dismissal, death, and dropping from rolls, among others.
Since the quota was not filled, the unfilled posts might be given to other regions.
Villaflor said there were 2,128 applicants for this period’s recruitment. Reports indicated that around 1,500 passed the agility test.
However, only 450 were processed for the medical and dental exam, neuro-psychiatric test, and complete background check.
Expectedly, a good number failed to hurdle either the neuro-psychiatric exam and interview and medical exam, among others.
The PRO-6 leadership apparently decided not to recall the applicants who passed the agility test but did not make it to the 450 cut. It only settled for the 225 passers, instead of filling the 300 quota in full.
Earlier, Villaflor warned applicants against persons who will offer services as tickets for hurdling the police recruitment process.
He said there might be unscrupulous individuals who will take advantage of the police applicant’s desire to enter into the service.
“Do not be deceived by dubious individuals who will promise you that you will surely be accepted if you will pay them a certain amount of money,” Villaflor told applicants.
He also stressed that he will give no mercy, especially if those who will act as fixers are active PNP members.
