205 ‘expired’ firearms presented to top cop

BACOLOD City – 205 firearms with expired licenses were presented to Police Regional Office-6 (PRO-6) director, Police Brigadier General John Bulalacao during the flag ceremony at the Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office (NOPPO) headquarters on March 4, 2019.

The firearms included those owned by various local government units in Negros Occidental and 25 others surrendered by former New People’s Army (NPA) rebels over the weekend.

Commission on Elections-Negros Occidental supervisor Atty. Salud Milagros Villanueva, incumbent Negros Occidental Vice Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson, and 303rd Infantry Brigade commander, Colonel Benedict Arevalo witnessed the presentation.

Bulalacao said the surrendered firearms is an outstanding achievement by Arevalo and NOPPO director, Police Colonel Romeo Baleros.

He added that they have yet to record any violent incidents involving private armed groups in Negros Occidental.

The PRO-6 director also lauded the efforts various law enforcement agencies in Negros Occidental over the recent surrender of 25 NPA rebels in Sagay City.
