The 2020 Census of Population and Housing (CPH) is on its fourth week of enumeration in Guimaras province.
So far, the census has successfully completed 174 enumeration areas (EAs) out of 222 (78.38%) and 42,767 households, or 93.12% of the estimated total workload of the province, according to a report by the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA)-Guimaras as of Sept 28, 2020.

The households include 10,334 in the municipality of Buenavista, 9,427 in Jordan, 10,375 in Nueva Valencia, 7,006 in San Lorenzo and 5,576 in Sibunag municipality.
Out of the total 222 enumeration areas, 174 were completely enumerated – 42 out of 68 EAs in Buenavista; 35 out of 43 EAs in Jordan; 45 out of 49 EAs in Nueva Valencia; 32 out of 37 EAs in San Lorenzo; and 20 out of its 25 EAs in Sibunag.

Up to this time, the 2020 CPH has an on-going enumeration with hired field personnel work-driven and dedicated to their assigned tasks despite the threats of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Subsequently, PhilSys brochures were also distributed to the respondents for information dissemination.
“I salute the courageous men and women Enumerators/Team Supervisors/Census Area Supervisors of PSA-Guimaras for their perseverance and dedication despite the challenges and dangers encountered in the field. Likewise, for the support provided by the Local Chief Executives of Guimaras LGUs,” Provincial Statistics Officer Nelida B. Losare said.
All field personnel continuously and strictly observe minimum safety and health protocols by mandatorily wearing facemasks and face shields, practicing proper hygiene and proper hand disinfection with alcohol, and practicing social distancing during interviews.
Additional protocols that particular barangays regulate are also constantly being followed.

The PSA launched the 2020 Census of Population and Housing nationwide on Sept 1, 2020 to provide government executives, policy and decision makers, and planners with updated population and housing data as bases to their social and economic development plans, policies, and programs.
The PSA persistently urges the community to continuously support and actively partake on the on-going 2020 CPH enumeration. Sama na, Census na!
