THOUSANDS of athletes, coaches, and staff trooped to the University of San Agustin, Iloilo to witness the grand opening of the 2019 University Games.
Schools from all over the Philippines graced the prized sporting event and were delighted with the Ilonggo hospitality that they received.
Rev. Fr. Frederick C. Comendador, O.S.A, started the program with a warm welcome to the participants and the staff, followed by a message delivered by the Executive Assistant for Sports and Youth, Mr. Rudiver Jungco Sr., Fray Stephen Ong Tan, O.S.A, over-all chairman of the UNIGAMES delivered the closing remarks.
With the 2019 UNIGAMES theme, “The Games that bring us together, for unity and peace,” the UNIGAMES committee still proudly highlights their long-time vision of being a venue to hone the athletic skills and prowess of collegiate athletes through competitive sports among the various universities.
Notable schools participating in the week-long sports-fest are the University of Santo Tomas, University of the East, National University, De La Salle University, College of Saint Benilde, and our very own San Agustin, CPU, and Iloilo Doctor’s College.
