BACOLOD City Two village watchmen or tanods were killed in two separate shooting incidents in Negros Occidental.
In Toboso town, Romy Cañete, 43, of Barangay Tabun-ac was shot dead by an unidentified suspect last Wednesday.
Cañete was walking home when the gunman shot him with a .45-caliber pistol, police records indicated.
The victim, who came from a fiesta, succumbed to multiple gunshot wounds on his body.
Police recovered from the crime scene seven casings of .45-caliber ammunition and four slugs.
The following day, Jesus Patiña, 52, of Barangay Tabu, Ilog town was also gunned down by three unidentified men at the said village.
Two of the three assailants were wearing jackets and masks.
The victim was shot several times which led to his death, police records showed.
Police recovered from the scene four pieces of .45 caliber ammunition casings, two calibre .9mm ammunition shells, a .38-caliber revolver bullet, and a long magazine of KG9 machine pistol.
Authorities have yet to determine the motives of the two killings.
