2 persons nabbed in drug sting

ROXAS CITY, Capiz — Two street-level individuals (SLIs) were arrested in separate drug buy-bust operations conducted by police in Pontevedra and Maayon, Capiz, on Friday and Saturday night, Dec. 19 and 20.

In Pontevedra, police identified the suspect as alias Alvin, 46, of Barangay Yatingan, Pontevedra, who was arrested around 11:45 p.m. in Barangay Población Ilaya in the same town.

Recovered from Alvin were one sachet of suspected shabu with an estimated street value of PHP 1,000, and two more sachets weighing approximately 10 grams with a standard drug price of PHP 68,000, along with a wallet containing an undetermined amount of money.

The suspect is currently under the custody of the Pontevedra Municipal Police Station.

Charges for violation of Republic Act No. 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, are expected to be filed on Monday, Dec. 22, before the Capiz Provincial Prosecutor’s Office.

In Maayon, police led by Capt. Joel Lauron arrested another SLI at around 10:02 p.m. in Barangay Indayagan.

The suspect, identified as alias Pango, 31, is a resident of Barangay Tabuc Sur, Panitan, Capiz.

A police poseur-buyer was able to purchase one sachet of suspected shabu worth PHP 3,000 from the suspect.

Operatives also recovered three more sachets of suspected shabu weighing approximately 15 grams with a street value of PHP 102,000.

Pango is currently under the custody of the Maayon Municipal Police Station for proper disposition.
