BACOLOD CITY – Police are checking missing persons in Negros Occidental to help identify two men found partially buried Sunday morning in a sugarcane field in Hacienda San Roque, Barangay Cubay, La Carlota City.
The first victim was found naked, covered in mud, with his face wrapped in masking tape and a tattoo on his right shoulder.
The second victim was wrapped in a tarpaulin, according to police.
Police Capt. Rosinie Cabuena, deputy chief of the La Carlota City Police Station, said a hacienda worker roving in the area saw a pit in the middle of the field and suspected something had been buried there.
The worker reported it to authorities, prompting a police response.
Officers found the two bodies separately buried just meters apart.
The incident was reported at 10 a.m., two hours after the worker discovered the pit.
Cabuena said no missing persons have been reported in La Carlota City.
She believes the victims may have been killed elsewhere and dumped in the area early that day.
She said there were no visible injuries, and investigators have yet to determine the cause of death.
The investigation is ongoing.
