ROXAS CITY, Capiz – Two men arrested in separate police operations in Panay and Ivisan towns over the weekend were charged Monday, June 2.
Authorities filed charges for violating Republic Act 10591, or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act, and the Commission on Elections gun ban.
Police identified the suspects only as alias “Roy,” 44, a farmer from Barangay Daga, Panay, and alias “Blanco,” 35, from Barangay Poblacion Norte, Ivisan.
Roy was arrested during a search operation early Sunday, June 1, at Sitio Sugod, Barangay Daga, Panay.
Recovered from his house were a .38-caliber revolver, four live bullets of the same caliber, an empty shell, and two live shotgun shells.
He failed to present valid documents for the firearm.
He is now in custody at the Panay police station.
Meanwhile, Blanco was arrested in a buy-bust operation Saturday night, May 31, in Barangay Sta. Cruz, Ivisan.
The Ivisan police, led by Police Maj. Ruby Magallanes, confiscated a .38-caliber revolver without a serial number in exchange for PHP2,500 during the sting.
Also recovered were PHP500 in genuine cash, PHP4,000 in boodle money, and a brown bag.
Blanco is now in police custody in Ivisan.
3 Face Drug Charges
Three individuals were charged Monday, June 2, after being caught in a drug buy-bust operation at a suspected drug den on Saturday afternoon, May 31, in Barangay Binuntucan, Pontevedra, Capiz.
Police filed charges for violating Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, against Morgan Borlado alias Dodoy, 45, of Barangay Binuntucan; Glenie Bolaño, 44, of Barangay Pantalan, President Roxas; and Noel Detaro, 40, of Barangay Lantangan, all from Capiz.
The charges were filed before the Capiz Provincial Prosecutor’s Office.
According to the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency in Capiz, Borlado’s place was identified as a drug den after multiple unidentified individuals were seen coming and going.
The suspects denied involvement in illegal drug activities during a media interview.
Seized from them were 16 sachets of suspected shabu worth about PHP100,000, drug paraphernalia, a digital weighing scale, and marked money.
The suspects are in police custody at the Pontevedra police station.
