2 men assault cop, watchman

BACOLOD City – Two persons were arrested for illegal possession of firearm and assault at Barangay Concepcion, Talisay City, Negros Occidental last Sunday.
Police identified the suspects as Ernel Ballesterous, 35; and Luel Segunla, 33, both residents of said village.
Investigation indicated that Police Corporal Joey Silao along with village watchman Miguel Castillon responded to a report on the alleged presence of armed men on a motorcycle.
While they were approaching the area, they heard gunshots.
They then saw Segunla, allegedly holding a firearm and drunk.
Both suspects allegedly resisted arrest and assaulted the policeman and the watchman.
Recovered from Segunla were a .45-caliber pistol, and two magazines loaded with five live ammunitions each.
Their motorcycle was also confiscated.
Both suspects are detained at the police station.
