ROXAS CITY, Capiz – Two individuals died when their motorcycle collided with a pickup truck during a Good Friday celebration on April 18 in Malocloc Sur, Ivisan, Capiz.
Police identified the victims as “Dodong,” 48, the motorcycle driver and a resident of the area, and “Rey,” 29, the back rider from Barangay Casanayan, Pilar, Capiz.
The driver of the pickup was identified as “Toto,” 46, a resident of Dingle, Iloilo.
According to Ivisan police, the pickup was traveling from Sapian to Ivisan when it collided with the victims’ motorcycle.
Initial investigation showed the pickup swerved on a slippery road, causing the driver to lose control.
The vehicle hit the motorcycle, then rammed into a roadside post.
Due to the impact, both motorcycle riders were thrown from the vehicle and sustained fatal head and body injuries.
They were rushed to separate hospitals in Roxas City but were declared dead minutes later.
The pickup driver was unharmed and is now in police custody along with the vehicle for proper disposition.
