2 Injured After Bamboo Pole Pierces Minivan in Capiz

ROXAS CITY, Capiz – A driver and his passenger were injured after a bamboo pole loaded on a delivery truck pierced through their minivan on Friday morning, April 4, in Poblacion Ilaya, Dumarao, Capiz.

The Dumarao police identified the victims as “Toto,” 30, the driver of the van, and “Nonoy,” 24, the lone passenger and a resident of Iloilo province.

According to the investigation by the Dumarao Municipal Police Station, the victims were en route to Iloilo when a bamboo pole suddenly fell from the truck they were following.

The pole pierced through the van’s windshield, hitting the passenger in the stomach and injuring the driver on the right side of his body.

The driver said he was moving at a moderate speed and attempted to avoid the truck but was caught off guard when the bamboo pole fell.

Several concerned individuals responded and rushed the victims to the nearest hospital.

Both victims expressed gratitude that the injuries were not life-threatening.

Police said the delivery truck driver is now in the custody of the Dumarao PNP for proper disposition.

An investigation into the incident is ongoing.
