MAMBUSAO, Capiz — Two men were charged Friday, August 29, for possession of illegal firearms and drugs following their arrest in separate operations in Barangay Maralag.
Police identified the suspects as John Paul Enagan, 39, and Edison Moises, 34, both residents of the said barangay.
Enagan was charged with violating Republic Act 10591, or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act, after a homemade shotgun, a magazine, and 24 rounds of live ammunition were recovered from his possession.
Moises was also charged under the same firearms law, as well as Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
Recovered from Moises were a pistolized, break-type homemade shotgun with two live rounds hidden in a sock, along with 14 sachets of suspected shabu valued at PHP 810,000 and drug paraphernalia.
The operations were conducted by the Mambusao Municipal Police Station led by Police Capt. Shaney Allanic and the 2nd Mobile Force Company based on a search warrant issued by Judge Rommel Leonor of Regional Trial Court Branch 21 in Mambusao.
Allanic said the search warrant was obtained after receiving complaints from residents about indiscriminate firing in the area.
Both suspects remain in the custody of the Mambusao police for proper disposition.
