BACOLOD City – Two persons were killed while another was injured after two families got involved in a commotion at Sitio Galera Barangay Nanunga, Hinigaran, Negros Occidental Monday night.
Police identified the fatalities as Van Flores, 50; and Allan Yurag, 38, both residents of the said village.
Police Major James Latayon, town police chief, said the Flores and Tanagan families, who were neighbors in the village, were holding separate drinking sessions when Van went to the latter’s house.
A commotion then followed involving Van and siblings Wilfredo and Mark Joseph Tanagan.
Van suffered stab wounds and when his brother Varry saw him, the latter also attacked the Tanagans.
Yurag, who is the Tanagans’ brother-in-law, also got stabbed in the commotion.
The Tanagans’ father, Alfredo, was also injured and taken to a hospital.
Van and Yurag succumbed to multiple stab wounds in a hospital.
Latayon said they did not know who attacked the two casualties and the injured.
“Marami kasi involved, hindi na alam kung sino ba iyong nanaksak una at nadamay lang,” he added.
Police recovered from the crime scene two knives and a bolo.
Mark Joseph and Varry were arrested and detained at Hinigaran Municipal Police Station while Wilfredo is still at large.
Latayon said they have yet to determine what caused the commotion because both families have no grudge against each other.
“Probably, nakainom lang sila siguro that time kaya nangyari iyon unless ma prove na may matagal na silang away talaga,” he added.
Latayon said both families already talked and they are just waiting for their decisions if they will file charges against each other.
