P40 million worth of projects will be financed by the national government for target barangays in Antique next year.
Barangays Bulan-Bulan in San Remigio and Cabladan in Sibalom recently revisited their Barangay Development Plans (BDPs) to include their proposed projects which will be funded by the national, provincial and municipal government.
“Revisiting the BDPs is essential for the programs and projects to be shovel-ready when the appropriate budget comes,” said DILG Antique Provincial Director Cherryl P. Tacda, during the Opening Program of Revisiting of BDPs.
The events held on Oct. 14-15, 2020 at Villa Bartolo, San Remigio, Antique and Oct. 20-21, 2020 at Parvana Inn, Sibalom, Antique are related to the Implementation of the Retooled Community Support Program (RCSP) under Executive Order 70.

“This is a convergence mechanism for local governments, particularly in the barangay level for the identification of issues and needed government interventions,” said DILG Antique End Local Communist Armed Conflict (ELCAC) Focal Person Whel Frank Santias.
The program aims to improve on the current outlook of the target barangays and to give them more knowledge on how to improve their current situation and build on what they have and find other means to create a peaceful community.
“There is a need to capacitate our Barangay Based Institutions for them to be functional and responsive to the needs of their constituents,” said DILG Antique Cluster Head Natalie Grace Azarraga during her discussion on the roles of BBIs.
Azarraga also discussed the critical role of barangays in developing safe and resilient communities through planning and budgeting.
The barangay collaborated with the Municipal Development Council (MDC) in the creation of a more cohesive BDP through a workshop.
Representatives from different national government agencies like DOLE, TESDA, DOST, DSWD, DAR, PIA, PNP, AFP, among others, provided their inputs in the revision of the target barangays’ development plans. Representatives from the provincial government such as IPHO, PSWDO and POPs Office also provided their suggestions for the proposed projects.
The Support to BDP funds is expected to be downloaded on the first quarter of 2021. Brgy. Bulan-bulan intends to use the RCSP funds for the construction of their farm to market road while Brgy. Cabladan plans to use the same funds for the construction of classrooms, roads, water systems and electrification project.
The Local Government Units of San Remigio and Sibalom, thru their Municipal Mayors and MPDCs expressed their gratitude for the Local Government Support Funds (LGSF) which will greatly contribute to the development of their barangays.
